For people living in the warm regions the silicon method is still the better method applied to canvas. Our plastic tarps look to fail in the same way as yours but our failure mode is UV degradation. If you could look into how to improve the UV resistance of the tarp of waterproofing coating.

Great teaching, great enthusiasm, 100% engagement from your audience. Great product. As with everything in life; if the process is right, the product will be right. Likewise, everything will be alright in the end. If it isn't alright, it isn't the end. 😊

Unless you're near an airport in which case you should not be flying these or in class b airspace or something like that these are not a threat to aviation Something else why are you tying the end in a knot? Just use your peel and stick tape and seal the end it should be a heck of a lot lighter per square inch of surface area.

I wonder how it would work for a ground cover under a tent. At Burning Man this year, my tent (along with my foam mattress) got absolutely soaked from all the rain despite being on top of a "waterproof" tarp. I discovered that the water just seeped its way up through the fibers of the tarp since the playa underneath was soaked.

Another application method could be holding the iron on one side of the fabric and rubbing a wax on the opposite side , so it melts in when the temperature is correct.

One old waterproof covering was oil cloth. I heard that term in my youth. Obvious from the name, oil cloth was a cloth soaked in an oil (don't know what kind), and it was effective at turning water. Oil cloth was one of the items on our school supply list in early years, and you could get it in the fabric department by the yard from suitably wide enough bolts. Except it wasn't oil cloth but vinyl. But the term was around pre-1970, where it was truly an oil product of some sort. (as it was, the vinyl was used to cover our desks in lower grades while we painted.)

Your dedication is inspirang and full of practical knowledge depending of what we are looking for of course. In my case, affordable AC for my almost 80 year old mother in Mexico, experiencing 113F° and higher temperatures in a medium side house, no regular AC is enough and the price for electricity is absolutely prohibitive... Thank you for all of that dear creator, you do deserve the support, because even the way you have asked for it is perfect, keep up the good work, because you see?, in my case I'm full of ideas, But , I'm almost 60 years old, looking 40 though...Many of you will be like -"Really!?"😁.... Well, really... I have created my own fountain of youth with a combination of biochemistry and ancient knowledge, slowly but I have reverted my aging process...Still have problems with ADHD and procrastination though🙄...But it is also getting remedied as more sectors of my brain are being repaired...I'm a highly traumatized war veteran...100% medically dischraged as a result... I gave inspiration to my genius Gral Dr inventor one day, so he ended up finding a solution in the form of injections to the problem of aging, and this is my gift for you all at this level of inspiration and...VIBRATION. With a certain story coming from my ancient Mexican Mayan background(I'm a "white criollo" having Spaniard Celtic as well) I related to him such a story speakijg of "LONGEVITY EXTENSION" deducting as a former 2nd year above average student...DROPOUT...due to brain injury because of a fight and my father losing his business due to corrupt government messing our economy...that he needed that clue piece of information. So seek for EPHITHALON ACETATE to extend your life by 20 years...Not trying to sell you nothing here... It is just that after not having time for myself like everyone else sustaining a family, having a hándicap child with mild cerebral palsy and myself further affected by severe ptsd, bipolar diasroder as a rare consequence, panic and anxiety attacks ...I didnt stand a chance...And was never able to patent my many ideas...I lost my marriage and almost ended up homeless and commiting suicide...I didnt recognize myself anymore...I DON'T WISH THAT TO ANYONE...SO LET ME SAVE YOU THE TROUBLE RIGHT NOW. I want to share how to gain the extra time with those who deserve it...Believe me when I say that THE UNIVERSE ALWAYS FINDS A WAY TO COMPENSATE YOU WHEN HAVING GOOD INTENTIONS. Ephitalhon Acetate, works by regenerating our TELOMERES, there are several versions, look for that exact name and research for better results. NOW THAT WE HAVE THAT EXTRA TIME, LET'S CREATE!! ...TO MAKE THIS A BETTER WORLD. Please do it for the good of it all and always try to help others. There is a beautiful element of The Methaphysical here as well. Your Pinneal Gland will be activated as a side effect, and there are other things like that which right now escape my mind...You will like myself gain a lot of aparently out of nowhere solutions, inspiration, feedback... For the first time in my life as we speak I'm in the process of precisely patenting the simplest most beautiful of my creations in order for people to focus faster, naturally beautifully immersive ,addictive , so hipnótic, in order to meditate... That is how I cured my war related severe ptsd and more, got my memory back slowly, and one day I see now, recovering my former 160 IQ...I wasn't recognized in my native beloved Mexico as a gifted child, in fact I experienced envy, ostracism, ridicule, emotional pain, repression , bulying...and violence... So you can imagine the passion behind me about it... I have found primarily the cure for my son by implementing Dr Joe Dispenza's "REWIRED" series, Dr Bruce Lipton's understanding of "EPIGENETICS"...It is just a matter of time for my now 15 year old son...Problem is his skeptical narcissistic attitude mother side of the family, ever blocking progress...But now he is rebelling against them...He has recovered at least 30% of his mobility and strenght...A positive "Snowballing effect " is ocurring after a decade plus efforts... It is my pleasure to share with you, with a community of advanced open minded people Mr channel creator...Keep up the good work. Never retreat, never surrender...
